Ali & Nick's NJ Backyard Wedding

For those of you have been following along this journey that started about a year ago, you know my professional goal has been to photograph weddings for quite some time. Welp, it happened. On a beautiful June day and I couldn’t have gotten any luckier with my first bride and groom.

Ali and Nick planned and created a beautiful backyard wedding at their home in Whitehouse Station, NJ. Their ceremony took place under two big oak trees. Their reception was open air under tents for added shade. And their dance floor was their stone patio under twinkle lights. Talk about magical.

My favorite part of their wedding day was seeing how much love they were surrounded by. Ali and Nick were surrounded by their closest friends and family with lots of nieces and nephews. During their ceremony, each of their parents shared pieces of advice - it was something I had never seen done before and was funny, sincere and heartfelt.

Let’s just say it’s a good thing I wore waterproof mascara because I am guaranteed to cry during first dances. And ceremonies. And first looks. Okay, I cry a lot.

Sharing this post is pretty special to me. I set a goal for myself and I achieved it. I still have a long way to go on my photo journey but documenting two people committing their lives to each other and two families coming together gives me an incredible sense of purpose. On June 30th, I was exactly where I was supposed to be - camera in hand, happy dancing behind my lens and occasionally wiping tears from my eyes.

Meet Ali & Nick.
