Arizona Family Session: Lightchaser workshop

A session that starts in apple orchards and ends in a flowing river bank next to a winery? Yes, please.

This was our final session of the Lightchaser Workshop and it did not disappoint. But it was truly about much more than pretty photos. The experience woke me up and made me take myself more seriously as a photographer and business owner. I got back on the plane to NJ with creativity bursting. Here is what I learned:

  1. Stop comparing. I could take a photo in the same location with the same family and it could look totally different than the photographer who took the photo standing 2 feet away. Value your own skill and craft.

  2. Play. Family sessions should feel like a big play session. It’s the best way to get the most genuine interactions and expressions.

  3. Open up - both literally and figuratively. It felt so good to connect with the other women in the Lightchaser workshop to share our experiences as business owners and individuals. I also learned to stop fearing a wide open aperture. 1.4 baby - all day.

I will never forget this experience.
